An extension to an Edwardian end terraced house to form a new kitchen dining living space. The existing house had a disconnect with the existing garden as the garden sloped steeply upwards from the back wall of the house and the house felt very enclosed. In order to better connect the house with the garden we raised the floor level of the new extension in order to create a flow of movement upwards into the garden and to better connect house and garden with large glazed doors. The light comes from 3 different directions (the rooflight, rear windows and side windows) which helps to add quality to the space and provide different qualities and quantities of light at different times of the day.
